RANGE FOR YOUR E-BIKE

E-bikes can now cover up to 100 kilometres. So even long journeys to work are fun on the saddle. How far you get with your e-bike is not only determined by the storage capacity of your battery: With the tips from Veloplus, you can get an extra kilometre or two out of it.

GOOD CHARGING CONDITIONS

Correct charging is crucial! When charging, the room temperature must be right for the batteries to charge properly. Veloplus therefore recommends charging at room temperature and only connecting the battery to the power supply once it has adjusted to the ambient temperature. Please also note: Ideally, the battery should have a residual charge of 10 % and should not be completely discharged.

CORRECT STORAGE

Do not leave the battery in a cold cellar or garage! Store your battery at room temperature and only use it shortly before you set off. This is because an e-bike battery likes to be stored in a temperature range of ten to 25 degrees. It is therefore also advisable to take the battery into the warm during working hours or over the lunch break and not leave it outside on the bike.

PEDAL EVENLY

Ride at a constant cadence! If you don't look ahead and avoid wasting energy with energy-sapping stopping and starting movements, your battery will run out quickly. Even pressure on the pedals ensures a constant signal to the motor. The result: more energy and therefore more range.
Ein gleichmässiger Druck auf die Pedale sorgt für ein gleichmässiges Signal an den Motor. Das Resultat: Mehr Energie und somit mehr Reichweite.

SHIFT DOWN A GEAR

Higher cadence for higher performance. Relaxing on the e-bike and pedalling in front of you has a negative effect on the battery. This is because the efficiency of the motor always improves with a higher cadence. Therefore, shift down a gear to pedal faster - this optimises consumption and extends the range of the battery.

MORE SUPPORT IN WINTER

Let your battery work properly. The battery is like our body: in winter, we need to move more to get up to operating temperature. Therefore, choose a higher support level in winter so that the power drawn from the battery warms it up and makes it more powerful.

LUBRICATED RUNS BETTER

If things aren't running smoothly, take a look at your chain. Dry chains cause more friction and therefore more resistance. Therefore, make sure that your chain is always optimally lubricated. Especially in winter when temperatures are low and there is salt on the road, the chain suffers many times over. It is therefore important to clean and lubricate the chain from time to time.
Gerade im Winter bei tiefen Temperaturen und Salz auf der Strasse leidet die Kette um ein Vielfaches. Es ist daher wichtig, die Kette von Zeit zu Zeit zu reinigen und zu ölen.

ENOUGH AIR?

Ride with the correct tyre pressure. Too little air on the road increases friction, reduces speed with increased energy expenditure and reduces range.

LESS PACKAGE

Get rid of unnecessary weight! E-bikes tempt you to carry more luggage or equipment. Only take what you really need.

CAREFUL WHEN CLEANING YOUR BIKE

Be careful when cleaning your e-bike. Cleaning with a high-pressure cleaner is taboo, especially for electronic components. Always remove the battery from the holder before cleaning the bike. The connector poles can be cleaned after removing the battery. Before refitting the battery, wipe it with a cloth only. It is also advisable to avoid using grease at all contact points.

DOUBLE LASTS LONGER

A second battery helps. If you cover longer distances and use the battery on a daily basis, it makes sense to buy a second battery. This allows you to give the batteries a break so that they are not under constant strain. But remember to also protect the spare battery from the cold and transport it in a rucksack with an insulated compartment or store it at room temperature.
